A busy boring day.

This morning Preston and I played, read, then had play-doh time.

The weather this afternoon was amazing. The boys and I were playing outside then the sprinklers came on. The boys wanted to play in the water. The boys put on their bathing suits. Ethan was in heaven playing in the water. Preston ran to the water but decided against getting wet.

We spent the evening at Ikea.

I really don't know what has been going on with Ethan lately. He just doesn't want to listen. Today at school he ended up having he apple put into the basket. What I understand it would be the equivalent of having your name on the board with two check marks. Tomorrow is a parent teacher conference so I'm sure I'll find out more about what happened.

The week isn't over???

Ethan's school had pictures today. The school was nice enough for those who have siblings to let them have pictures too. Ethan didn't want to wear his suit until he saw how adorable Preston was in it. Every one at school was saying how handsome he was. After the boys did their pictures, I changed Ethan out of his suit he was sad because he wasn't going to be handsome anymore. I told him that I was changing him into other handsome clothes that were just a little more comfortable.

Preston and I headed down to the hospital because my grandmother was having her eye lid reopened after six weeks of being sewn up. Everything went well, just there was something aggravating her eye. Turns out there was an eyelash poking her eye.

The evening was swimming.

Shopping till I dropped!

After we got Josh and Ethan to their places. Preston and I headed to Costco. I was amazed that I was able to save an addition $22 using their coupons. I also was able to pick up the boys Easter outfits.

After the we picked up Josh, Josh informed me that the book store that has been going out of business is actually closing its doors on Thursday. We decided that tonight would probably be the only night we would be able to make it back to the store. They had most things 40 to 50% off plus an extra 10% your entire bill.

Preston got really fussy at bedtime. Once he was able to finally fall asleep I headed out to the grocery store. I was able to my biggest savings to date at a grocery store. I save a total of 66% of my total bill. With tax I paid just over $15. I still haven't achieved the amount of savings that I saw at Target the other day but I'm on my way.

Soccer!

This morning we did soccer. I was informed that next week the kids in Ethan class are going to be teaching their parents the games they play. Whoo hoo that means two straight hours of soccer next week.

Over all a pretty uneventful day.

Weekend Update!

Saturday started off by us going to the Dallas Convention Center to pick up Josh's packet for the half marathon that he was running on Sunday. The run had a health and wellness expo going on at the same time. There was a carnival section for the kids. The boys played some games and won medals.

We headed back home and after naps or lack of naps we all played outside it it was time to get ready for dinner with Mark and Jen. Josh wanted to carb up so we headed to Olive Garden. Some how Josh managed to order something that didn't have any pasta! We all gave him a hard time.

Sunday we started very early. Josh had to be downtown Dallas at 7:00 and we were trying to get him to catch the train. We some how missed the train that he needed so I ended up driving him all the way in to town. Then it was off to my parents home to drop off the boys. Then it was back to watch Josh in the half marathon. He ended up finishing almost 30 minutes sooner then his first half marathon. I can't believe that it has been less than a year since he started running.

Then we headed back to my parents home to cook for my parents and pick up the boys. I cooked a whole grain pasta with zucchini, squash, and chicken cooking in extra virgin olive oil and Mrs.Dash garlic and herb flavor. We also had some salad. My dad has lost 30lbs. and is continuing to drop the weight.

After the boys went down for their naps, my mom told me that Ethan might want to tell me about the car in the lake. Apparently on the way to church they saw several heavy duty tow trucks on the side of the road. They just figured a car went off the side of the bridge. They were still there on the way back from church. My mom, grandmother, and I decided to go check out what was going on. It turns out a construction vehicle fell of a barge a month ago and the city decided they wanted it out of the lake. They we pulling it out today. There were no injuries and they were able to retrieve the machine.

A lazy Friday..

I prepared to go to story time but the boys just were not interested. We just hung around the house. The boys had a picnic at lunch. The boys were having so much fun playing that they didn't want to stop and eat.

We did an art project in the afternoon.

Tonight we just played in the backyard. It was just the sand table and chalk.

(working on the videos they are coming soon)

I have discovered something very dangerous today! Running around town with one child is SO easy!!

I got an email last night that Ethan is having class/ individual pictures next week. Also my parents are going to watch the boys on Sunday while Josh runs his half marathon, and they are going to be taking them to church. Not to mention Ethan doesn't have any warm weather clothes that fit him. On Tuesday, I had picked up some play clothes but nothing nice. Today, I quest to find nice clothes for the boys and in the process my suppressed mall rat has escaped! I used to spend at least one day a week at a mall if not more. There has been many reasons the mall rat has been suppressed, mainly I haven't been happy with my clothing size. Now that I'm near my ideal weight (the last couple of weeks the scale has been moving in the wrong direction, but I'm getting back on track) I can almost fit into my ideal size! Sears is having a really good sale right now! I bought nine items for $47.64. Then Gymboree was taking an extra 20% off their clearance items!

I have been to Stonebriar mall a few times but haven't really spent a lot of quality shopping time there. While I was shopping I remembered that Barnes and Noble have a story time today, so I decided to check it out. Preston loved playing with the train table. I think the story time at the book store is geared to older children. Preston loved the cookie he got while we were there. After story time there was an art project, we were suppose to build a cat mask. I just had Preston color. I still think he is a little young for safety scissors and glue.

Then it was off to get Josh to swimming and pick Ethan up from school.

Ethan didn't want to take a nap because he wanted to build a bat cave. *sigh* Eventually he finally went to sleep. After we picked Josh up from work I told him what Ethan wanted to do during nap time. Josh that was an awesome idea. While I was working on dinner the boys built the "BAT CAVE". Which the boys loved until Ethan tried climbing on the top of it.

Then came Bat Cave 2.0.

After dinner we decided to walk to a park. Josh thought it would be a good chance to work with Ethan on riding a bike.

After being so productive yesterday I felt like a bum today. Mt. Saint Clothes has returned. Toys are everywhere. I'm just not feeling 100% today.

Ethan had a good day at school. On the way back from school their was a gnat in the van. So I was trying to get it and Preston just thought it was the funniest thing ever! It reminded Ethan of going to the beach the last couple of summers and every time we open the car doors we would be flooded with mosquitoes. Ethan started pretending to be killing bugs.

The boys did great during swimming again this week. I don't know why but after swimming both boys are extremely hyper. The weather was gorgeous and Josh is doing another half marathon this weekend and didn't want to risk an injury by doing a full run, so we decided to go on a family walk.

Off and running!!

*sigh* The morning started off by getting whacked in the head with a pacifier at 5:30. I put Preston in bed with us. He couldn't get comfortable so Josh took him back to his bed. Next thing we knew it was 7:30. We hit the ground running to get us out the door by 8:00. I don't know how we did it, but we were only a couple of minutes late and were able to get everyone where they needed to be on time.

After Ethan was dropped off, Preston and I did some shopping. Then home for a quick bite, and to do another load of laundry. Back to get Ethan.

Ethan was so hungry and tired when I picked him up. When I got him home he was super whinny and cranky that he wouldn't even eat. I put Preston down for a nap. Then rocked Ethan like a little baby till he calmed down. Once he calmed down he ate his entire PB&J sandwich and all of his apple sauce. Then laid down for his nap without a fight.

I should also mention that last night both boys managed to pee in their beds. Seriously what are the odds that both of them would do that on the same night? The frustrating part was Preston was in a pull-up and he took it off then used the restroom. After doing a million loads of laundry, I decided that I needed more mattress pads that fit the boys beds.

After we picked Josh up we headed to Target. Josh has an amazing ability to pick the slowest line. We ended up behind a serious couponer. Her bill started off to be $475 and some change and she ended up paying $80 something. Her savings were about $390!!!! Josh has been on board with me couponing but this was the first time he really saw what I'm trying to work towards. The cashier asked her how long it took her to prepare for the shopping trip, she responded all day. I then asked if she used any website to help her and she said no. She only gets her coupons out of the newspaper and that she did it all on her own. I feel like the gantlet has been thrown!

After dinner the boys and I did some of the activities that we do in soccer class. After we came in I had received an email that soccer tots is starting a mini soccer league. It is once a week in the evenings. I think I'll talk to the other parents to see if any of them are signing up their kids.

Another Monday!

This morning Josh had me and the boys sleep in a little bit. The boys went to be close to their normal bed time the night before. This morning the boys were actually in a decent mood. Ethan behaved while Preston was in class. Preston actually participated during the whole class. Between classes Ethan had the kids in his class were practicing their passing skills. Then they were chasing each other around so when class actually started they were all tired. Ethan would do something then lay down in the middle of the field. I informed him that if he was that tired then we needed to leave. After that he paid attention and was one of the best behave kids in the class.

After the boys laid down for their naps, the contractor showed up and finished the pantry/ laundry room.

The boys slept longer than normal for their nap time. After dinner the boys played outside.

The greatest potty training tip ever!!

A few weeks ago, I was waiting for Ethan's school to unlock their doors so I could pick Ethan up. I noticed one of the other mom's open her trunk and pulled out a potty chair. Then she gave the chair to her child and had her go.

Before I had kids, I rode with a friend who took her son to visit some aunts. We were in the middle of nowhere and her son needed to go. She had to pull of on the side of the road and have him go in some trees. I can't count the number of times that Ethan has said the dreaded words, "I've got to go potty" and there just wasn't any way humanly possible that we could get him to one before he had an accident. The park that we frequent the most doesn't have potties. So he wouldn't let us know that he need to go because that meant we would have to leave and go home. Generally we never get back before he goes. A few weeks ago, when he had to go it wasn't a big deal. He used the chair and was able to continue playing.

Since we added the chair to the car it has been used a total of there times to date. Will defiantly be part of our vehicle for a long time.

Happy Birthday Mom and healthy eating!

Today we celebrated my mom's 39th birthday. We won't talk about how many times she has celebrated her 39th birthday.

We went to Central Market and picked up several fresh fruits, vegetables, chicken breast, and some multi-grain bread. Yummy!!!!

Then we set up the air matters that we got from Ikea that we keep over at my parent's home.

Chores!

I still haven't hired anyone to take care of our yard. I did find someone to do part of the major spring clean up. but there where still work to be done. It has gotten to the point that we just had to do it ourselves. We got up and moving early today. The first thing that we did was set up the back yard so the boys had enough stuff to keep occupied while we were working. After we got the boys set up it looked like we were expecting to have a birthday party or something. I think we went a little over board. We set up the bounce house. Pulled out the basket ball hoop, t-ball set, soccer goal, balls, slide, sidewalk chalk, tunnel, sand table, and a picnic table. There was enough stuff to keep several kids busy. Josh and I were able to get a lot done in our yard. However there is still more to be done. There is still one flower bed that has bushes to be trimmed and there are several that just need to be cleaned out.

We are making progress!

Today we stayed at home again. This time it was because we are waiting for the contractor to come and do some repairs in the laundry/ pantry.

I was really nervous when he opened the wall, because I was afraid that my worst case scenario I was playing in my head would be true. Turns out that the damage on the wall was old and minimal. The worst part of the damage to the baseboard was being cause by a leak in the hose to our wash machine. Josh and I were glad that we had decided to not going after the previous owner. We had been also dealing with ants (that is how we found the damage) so I was also worried about being completely grossed out about all the bugs in the walls, there was no active bug activity in the walls.

I really felt like I had won the lottery because all of the news was good. I was able to start moving the food back into the pantry.

Stayed home!

We just hung out at home today. It has been nice not rushing around this week.

A new baby and swimming!

Today I had a friend stop by, she is currently on maternity leave after giving birth to and adorable little boy. My boys loved seeing the little baby and were upset to see him leave. Ethan said that he wanted the little baby to always be around. Preston was upset too when the baby had to leave.

The evening we had swimming. I swam with Preston today. It has been a few weeks since I was the one in the water, I was really impressed with how much he has improved. Preston is swimming 9 seconds by himself. He loves floating on his back and going under the water. He was getting frustrated that I wasn't putting him under enough so any chance he had he jumped in the water. He had great kickers and blow great bubbles.

I didn't get to watch Ethan but according to Josh he did well during the class but after wards didn't listen and went down the slide when nobody was at the bottom to make sure he got to the side safely.

This next video is makes my stomach turn!! It was Ethan eating a cookie during dinner.

Day at home

Today we didn't go anywhere this is the first day we have just been home in a long time. It was nice. I gave the boys a couple of boxes and they were entertained all day long.

Spring Break!!

Normally Monday the boys are cranky because they got off schedule on Sunday. A day after the time change the boys were extremely cranky. I really thought about not going to soccer today because they were just so tired. I put on my big girl panties and braved going to the soccer field. This week is spring break for FISD, all of the siblings were at practice today. Ethan fell off the bleachers again today. At least this time he didn't just do a head plant and I was right there and able to break his fall.

The boys were so over tired at nap time they really fought falling asleep.

Busy weekend

Our weekend was jammed  packed. The most frustrating part was I would start uploading Ethan's performance video and the computer would go to sleep and the upload would error out.

On Saturday, Ethan was invited to a birthday party. It was the first party that he has been invited to at his new school. I figured it would be a great chance to meet the other parents and kids. The parents did a great job putting the party together but it was at a park and they didn't allow the kids play on the equipment till after the party was over. Ethan didn't really want to do the games or watch the girl open her presents. He just wanted to play on the playground equipment.

Sunday, I went to a friends baby shower. It was great seeing a bunch of people from high school. My family was hanging out over at my parents home while I was at the shower.

Spring Performance

The first video is a short snapshot of the Spring Performance. The second video is Ethan's full performance and is almost fifteen minutes long.

A fun night.

When we pulled up to the house Ethan made a comment about knocking the house down with a bird to kill the piggies. *sigh* I think we let Ethan play Angry Birds a little too much.

For those who don't know, Angry birds is a game that you have different birds that knock over different structures to kill pigs.

While I was making dinner, Josh and Ethan were busy setting different structures and knocking them down.
Now Josh is trying to figure out how to make a more realistic at home version.

A little later Josh tough Ethan how to exercise.

Potty training round 2

We have opened the last package of diapers for Preston!! We have pull ups that we are going to go to first.

Then I picked Ethan up from school and his teacher informed me that he had two accidents. *sigh* At this rate I think Preston is going to be "trained" before Ethan. It turns out that his accidents weren't the I didn't want to stop doing what I'm doing accidents but I just didn't get my pants pulled down enough when I was on the toilet. At least the school isn't going to kick him out for not being potty trained. I just have to send more back up clothes.

I figured it out!!

I have been tired for a while now. It just seems like there isn't enough sugar and caffeine to get me going. Last night I just took notes about my night time. I didn't get to be till almost midnight. Josh was still up and I didn't really fall asleep till Josh came to bed. Then about thirty minutes later Ethan showed up apparently Grover turned into a green monster that was trying to eat Ethan or something. We have a bed set up in our room in case he has a nightmare and we can't get him to go back to his bed. I put him on the bed and that wasn't good enough. I moved the mattress so that he could hold my hand. That lasted for about thirty minutes before he got back in bed with us. After a couple more attempts to get Ethan out of our bed I gave up. So I was sandwiched between Ethan and Josh and couldn't get comfortable. Eventually Ethan moved to the foot of our bed. I was finally able to get comfortable and sleep the last look at the clock was 4:30am. The next thing I know the alarm was going off to announce that it was 6:00 at least I was able to get another hour of sleep. No wonder I'm always tired.

It is Friday!!

I'm so excited for this weekend. All of Josh's side projects are done and his big project at work is over. We actually going to get some small project around the home done.

This morning the boys woke up HYPER. They were up late last night because of the musical. They calmed down after we dropped Josh off for work. I braved going to the library with them. There was a point when I was ready to leave before story time started. I think the boys realized how frustrated I was becoming because that is when they calmed down. They did  get during story time and after wards Ethan played on the computer for a moment. That is when we saw one of the kids from his soccer class. The boys each picked out a book then we headed home. Once again they were bouncing off the walls.

After lunch they both went down for great naps. Once they woke up they were still full of energy!! Man I could be come a trillionaire if I could bottle their energy. Actually I think it would solve the worlds energy problems. Anyways, sent the boys outside to run off some of the energy.

We tried out a new cupcake place. It is more expensive and you get smaller cupcakes then Dimples. Out of the four cupcakes we got, one was okay, a couple were good, and one was great. I guess we will try it again. I would prefer Dimples if I could just get my hands on some again. It is a little difficult trying to hunt down a roach coach and hope they still have some by the time you get there.

The boys are starting to think the only place you eat is in the car!

The day started off "normal". Then I was getting lunch ready for the boys, sack lunches because we were going to pick Josh up, and take him to swimming, then pick Ethan up from school, then back to swimming ,to take Josh to work. Man we really need to get our other car fixed.

Dinner was in the car too. We went to see my father-in-laws production of Seussical the Musical. It was a lot of fun. When we were loading the kids up in the car Ethan asked where his snack was. *sigh* I think I need to make it were we aren't eating in the van anymore.

Thursday, March 3, 2011

This morning Ethan did not want to go to music school today. He fought getting dressed. He fought getting in the car. He got upset when we were pulling into the parking lot. He fought getting out of the car. He fought going into the school. He fought going into the class. Then once he finally went into the room he ran back out. He ran out several times. Finally the teacher picked him up and closed the door.

When I went to pick Ethan up I didn't know what to expect. Ethan was excited to see Preston and I. Once I got him in his seat, Ethan said that he wanted to go back to music school.

Tonight was swimming. I don't know what it is but just seeing the pool the boys get super hyper.

A little good news!

Today when I picked Ethan from school, his teacher was going on about how well behaved Ethan was today.
